  Sati and her secret

The kingdom of Dhanad speaks of its past and present glory. Haven weathered great wars and siege under great rulers like King Daksha, and his father before him, the kingdom of Dhanad flourished still under the peaceful rule of Raja Subhat.

The kingdom of Dhanad had it all; wealth, great warriors, happy citizens and the Takshila University, where people from every other kingdoms came to learn arms and war techniques. Dhanad was truly the envy of other kingdoms. The citizens of Dhanad had the freewill to do whatever they wanted, but there one ultimate rule_

just one! Women, were not in any circumstance, allowed to touch weapons, much more learn how to use them.

This rule was accepted by everyone, they had brave and skilled soldiers to protect them anyway. What more could they want? There is also the myth that Dhanad could never be conquered. So everyone was content. Every one? Of course not!

In the great and valorous kingdom of Dhanad, lived a young and brave princess, Princess Sati. Born to Raja Subhat and Rani Sunanda, Princess Sati couldn’t have asked for a greater family. She was loved and pampered by the whole family, as she was the only female child of the king and queen. Princess Sati had a doting brother, Rajkumar Shalya heir apparent to the throne. And, there was also her beloved grandmother, Rajmata Suhasini. Princess Sati was indeed surrounded with and by love. Princess Sati would have been content if not for the fact that she had a strong will. What was that?

Princess Sati knew she can never be happy knitting or sewing, when she could have a sword in one hand, an arrow in the other, fighting rows of enemies in a bloody battle

ground. Princess Sati couldn’t understand why she had to sit at home, while her brother learnt how to fight and protect himself. She just couldn’t understand that particular rule that bind women from fighting in Dhanad. Sati knew what she wanted, and it was to hold a sword and fight in battle.

Sati, however, was to be disappointed when her father shut down her desires without so much as an explanation_ at least not one that seemed plausible to Sati. Sati felt angry and betrayed. She wouldn’t talk to anybody or even touch a morsel of food.

Raja Subhat was devastated to see his precious daughter in such a gloomy mood, but he wasn’t about to change the rule of the kingdom just to make her happy. He would, if he could, though. Raja Subhat knew that princess Sati loved her grandmother, Rajmata, and listened to her more than anyone. Raja Subhat sought out Rajmata and told her to help him make Sati see reason and understand why she can’t take up arms. Rajmata agreed to do so. Turned out she had her own plans, anyway.

Rajmata made sati promise to stop sulking and she was going to show her a secret.

Sati, being the bright child she was, sensed adventure and thrill in Rajmata’s promise. In seconds, Sati was all sunshine and rainbow once again. The king and queen couldn’t be happier.

Rajmata did show Sati a secret alright_ a big one that involved secret doors and tunnels.

Rajmata brought Sati before Guru Vasudev, the headmaster of the great Takshila University, through a secret tunnel from behind a painting in her room! Sati couldn’t be more surprised. Then, Rajmata explained how years before, she had been a great warrior, right before she married Sati’s grandfather. Then something grave happened in Takshila and she had to drop arms. But Rajmata hadn’t been happy with this and

the king noticed. So her husband, in collaboration with Gurudev, had helped Rajmata complete her arms training, right there in Takshila. Now, Rajmata was also going to help Sati learn arms because like Sati, Rajmata, also believed that some old rule shouldn’t prevent a girl child from learning to defend herself. Rajmata believed that sati could finally break this old and stifling rule.

All these, were to be kept top secret though. Princess Sati was exhilarated; she was finally going to realize her dream.

Rajmata informed Sati that she couldn’t go on this journey alone, because during her own time, she had her loyal and trusted servant, Vaishali, with her. And as Such, Sati needed someone she could trust to keep her secret. Sati couldn’t think of anyone other than her trusted servant and best friend, Vrinda. That was where the real adventure started.

On their first day in Takshila, Sati and Vrinda were very amazed and impressed at it great architectural building and sheer grandeur of the school itself. Sati of course was going undercover, nobody must know that she was Princess Sati of Dhanad.

On their first day in school, Sati and Vrinda met two other friends; Shivaay and Nandan. The four became fast friends. There were three very strange students that caught everyone’s attention on the first day; Ashwani, Sumesh, and Vaibhav, mainly because they were obviously much older than the usual first year students. Nobody gave it much thought, as long as there was peace in Dhanad.

However, soon enough, Shivaay, Nandan, Sati and Vrinda, began to notice some very strange things about these three strange boys. The strange boys were asking strange questions about the city of Dhanad. Sati and her friend went immediately into investigative mode. And it was during this time that a lot of secrets were revealed,

and Sati got to hear the secret of 300 years ago from Rajmata. Sati now understood why women couldn’t fight in Dhanad, but she was far too deep in this mystery to pull back.

Sati and her friends continued to trail Ashwani and his friends, as they had later discovered that these four boys were indeed spies sent into Dhanad to learn its secrets.

Sati and her friends thought they’ve got Ashwani and his group pinned at one point.

Little did they know they were walking into a trap?
